As Rush said - this CEO is tying the salary to nothing other than employment. Not good employee or bad employee. Not reliable employee or unreliable. Not productive or slacker. That's his claim to it being socialist. And his reasoning as to why it won't work.
Another reason it won't work - perhaps not with this particular company, but in general - reducing a CEO's salary to increase the salary of workers doesn't scale very well. With 150 employees - maybe. With 50,000 employees, just not enough money to go around using that math.
And if someone told them math was involved the reply would be "you're just being negative, denying progress and aren't coming up with solutions, just complaints"
